  • 서초구, 길고양이 급식소 36개소로 확대 운영
    서초구 길고양이 급식소 및 이용모습   서울 서초구가 기존 길고양이 급식소 25개소에 더하여 올해 10월까지 11개소를 추가로 확대 설치해, 총 36개소의 ‘서초구 길고양이 급식소’가 문을 연다. 길고양이 급식소는 구에서 2017년 3개소 시범설치를 시작으로 2019년에는 각 동별 1개소씩 18개소를 추가 설치하였으며, 2020년에는 사람이 떠난 재건축 지역에 남겨진 길고양이를 위해 4개소를 추가 설치했다. 올해는 기존 낡은 급식소 2개는 교체하고, 길고양이 중성화 자원봉사자의 신청을 받아 방배13구역 재건축지역을 포함한 11개소를 추가 설치한 것이다. 올해 제작한 길고양이 급식소의 주요 특징으로는, 급식상자(가로0.58m·세로0.35m·높이0.4m)와 발판(가로0.55m·세로0.24m)으로 구성해 기존 급식소보다 지붕이 길어 급식소 안으로 비가 덜 들이치고 더 안락하다는 점이다. 또 소재로는 고무를 이용하여 급식소 다리가 부식되지 않으며, 나무색 목재로 제작해 주변 환경과 어우러지도록 꼼꼼히 신경썼다. 일반적으로 길고양이 급식소는 불특정 다수에 의해 스티로폼이나 벽돌 등 무분별한 형태로 제작되어 주변 미관을 해치기도 하고, 2차 쓰레기가 발생하는 등 환경오염 불편 민원이 발생하기도 한다. 또, 길고양이를 돌보고자 하는 지역 캣맘은 주변의 따가운 시선을 감수해야 하는 어려움이 있기도 하였다. 구는 이를 해결하기 위해 서초구 길고양이 중성화 자원봉사자와 함께 깨끗한 먹이 제공 및 급식소 주변 청결도 관리를 하고 있다. 구 관계자는 주민 생활불편을 예방하면서 길고양이들이 안락하게 먹이를 먹을 수 있어, 건전한 길고양이 돌봄 문화가 확산될 것으로 기대하고 있다. 한편, 구는 올해 77명의 길고양이 중성화 자원봉사자를 구성해 운영하며, 길고양이 중성화사업에 있어 서울시 자치구 최상위권의 실적을 내고 있다. 또 길고양이 뿐만 아니라, 동물보호조례 제정 및 유기견 입양 ‧ 교육기관인 서초동물사랑센터 개소, 동물보호명예감시원 운영 등 다양한 동물복지 정책을 추진해왔다. 조은희 서초구청장은 “서초구 길고양이 급식소 설치를 통해, 주민과 동물이 조화롭게 공존할 수 있는 성숙한 반려문화가 정착되길 바란다.”고 말했다.

    동물 공존도시 마포, 서울시 자치구 최초 동물복지 5개년 계획 수립   오는 11월 중순 서울 마포구 마포동(36-4)에는 서울시에서 8번째로 반려견 놀이터가 문을 연다. 또한 반려동물 인구 및 관련 산업이 확장하는 것에 비해 전문 인력이 부족한 문제를 해결하고자 내년부터 반려동물 전문인력 양성도 시작한다. 마포구가 이 같은 내용을 담아 서울시 자치구 최초로 동물복지 5개년(2021~2025) 계획인 ‘마포 동물복지계획 2025’을 수립했다고 27일 밝혔다. 이번 계획은 2019년 8월 동물보호팀 신설 후 단편적으로 실시해 온 동물보호 정책을 한 단계 발전시켜 분야별로 세분화한 것이 특징이다. 또한 ‘사람과 동물이 공존하는 행복한 마포’라는 정책 비전을 내세우며, 동물과의 공존을 강조하고 있다. ‘마포 동물복지계획 2025’는 ▲성숙한 반려동물 문화 조성 ▲유기동물 및 길고양이 관리 ▲구민참여 및 동물보호‧복지, 3개 중점분야로 구성되었으며 구는 실현 가능성을 우선 순위에 두고 총 15개 세부사업 계획을 수립했다. 우선 구는 11월 반려견 놀이터를 조성해 반려견과 보호자를 위한 교육의 장을 마련하는 한편, 구민 호응도가 높은 반려동물 문화교실을 꾸준히 확대해 나갈 계획이다. 또한, 반려동물 전문인력 양성, 마포 반려견 문화행사, 취약계층 반려동물 의료 서비스 지원 등을 신규 사업으로 추진해 건강한 반려문화가 자리 잡을 수 있도록 앞장서 나간다는 구상이다. 이와 함께, 유기동물 보호 및 예방 체계도 촘촘히 구축해나간다. 유기동물의 신속한 구조 및 치료를 전담하는 위탁업체를 지속 운영하고, 길고양이 중성화 및 급식소도 지원한다. 유기동물을 입양한 구민에게 1마리 당 20만 원 한도 의료비와 입양축하 물품 등을 지원해 유기동물 입양률 제고에도 힘쓴다. 마지막으로 동물복지 네트워크, 동물보호 명예감시원 및 자원봉사단 등의 운영으로 동물보호 및 정책에 구민 참여를 확대해 올바른 동물보호문화 확산에 기여하고 동물복지의 기반을 조성해 나갈 계획이다. 한편 구는 ‘마포 동물복지계획 2025’의 내실화를 위해 지난 10월 21일 동물복지 전문가들이 참여한 사전 설명회 및 자문회의를 개최, 의견을 수렴했다. 이에 따라 구는 2022년에 ‘마포구 동물복지위원회’를 구성‧운영하고 동물 보호 현안 등 실질적 정책 추진을 위한 자문 기구로 적극 활용한다는 방침이다. 구 관계자는 “반려동물 인구가 증가함에 따라 동물보호와 복지에 대한 구민들의 기대가 매우 다양하고 동물보호 단체 간에도 의견이 상이하다”라며 “이런 사항을 종합적으로 고려해 동물복지 5개년 계획을 매년 점검하고 보완해나가겠다”라고 밝혔다. 유동균 마포구청장은 “이번 「마포 동물복지계획 2025」는 사람과 동물이 공존하는 행복한 마포 구현을 위한 첫 번째 발걸음이라 생각한다”라며 “천만 반려인 시대를 맞아 동물복지를 향상하고 올바른 반려동물 문화 정착을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.

    명사특강 유튜브 썸네일 이미지   ‘집’이라는 공간이 세상의 대부분인 반려묘와 집사가 모두 지내기 좋은 인테리어를 고민하거나 준비 중이라면 ‘서울 반려동물시민학교’ 온라인 명사특강에 참여해 보자 서울시는 고양이를 기르거나 관심있는 시민 누구나 참여할 수 있도록 ‘나응식 수의사의 고양이와 보호자 둘 다 만족하는 캣테리어’ 특강을 24일(일) 오후 2시 서울시 유튜브를 통해 생중계한다. ‘캣테리어(caterior)’는 고양이(cat)과 인테리어(interior)의 합성어로 관련 용품들을 고양이의 본능과 습성에 맞춰서 배치하는 ‘고양이 친화 인테리어’를 의미한다. 강의는 EBS ‘고양이를 부탁해’에 출연으로 시민에게 친근한 고양이 행동전문가 나응식 수의사가 고양이에게 필수적인 환경을 제공하면서도 생활편의 등 보호자의 만족도까지 높일 수 있는 방법에 대해 설명하고 생방송 참여 시민과 질의 응답을 통해 맞춤형 정보를 제공할 예정이다. ‘영역동물’인 고양이의 경우 실내환경이 건강에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 특성을 고려해 수직공간과 은신처를 구성하고, 밥·물그릇, 화장실의 위치를 어떻게 배치하면 최대한 안정감을 주고 보호자와 교감을 증대시킬 수 있는지 알아본다. 이 강의는 ‘서울 반려동물 시민학교’ 일환으로 진행되며, 지난 5월 ‘설채현 수의사와 함께하는 반려동물 생애주기별 건강관리’와 7월 ‘훈련사, 미용사, 장례지도사가 한자리에…무엇이든 물어보시개’에 이은 3회차 특강이다. 이번 특강에 참여한 시민을 대상으로 선착순 100명에게 반려동물에게 필요한 기념품을 제공하는 이벤트도 진행할 예정이다. 참여자는 모바일 또는 PC 화면을 캡처 후 ‘서울 반려동물시민학교’ 홈페이지의 이벤트 게시판에 올리면 된다. 또한, 캣테리어 문의나 고양이와 생활하며 느꼈던 행동학적 문제, 건강관리 등 궁금한 점을 ‘서울 반려동물시민학교’ 홈페이지에 댓글로 사전에 질문을 남기고 방송에 질문이 채택되어도 소정의 상품을 받을 수 있다. 박유미 서울시 시민건강국장은 “코로나19로 반려동물과 함께하는 실내생활 시간이 늘면서 사람은 물론 반려동물까지 배려하는 펫테리어(peterior)에 대한 관심이 증가해 ‘캣테리어’ 강의를 마련했다. 많은 시민이 참여하기 바란다.”며 “서울시는 앞으로도 시민과 함께 할 수 있는 다양한 교육프로그램을 확대해 나가겠다.”고 말했다.

    경희대  교양학부,  후마니타스칼리지에 '반려동물과 동물권' 강의를 개설해.....     경희대는 교양학부인 후마니타스칼리지에 '반려동물과 동물권' 강의를 개설해 오는 2학기부터 운영한다고 1일 밝혔다. 강의계획서에 따르면 학생들은 강의 전반부에는 올바른 반려동물 기르기, 실생활에서도 쓸 수 있는 동물 행동 교정 방법 등을 배운다.   중간고사 이후에는 유기동물, 가축과 살처분, 동물원 내 동물, 실험동물 등 동물권과 관련한 여러 문제에 대해 발표하고 조별로 토론하는 방식으로 강의가 진행된다. '반려동물과 동물권' 강의는 학생들이 신설을 원하는 교양 강좌를 스스로 설문 조사해 학교에 요청하면 검토를 거쳐 강좌를 마련하는 '배움학점제'로 개설됐다. 경희대 관계자는 "그간 동물 관련 학과가 있는 대학은 많았지만, 누구나 들을 수 있는 교양 강의로 동물권 관련 수업을 개설한 경우는 드물었다"며 "학생들의 반응이 좋을 경우 앞으로도 계속해서 운영할 계획"이라고 했다.

Today, I am honored to be joined with Mr.Lee Seung-Soo, the country manager of the Korean branch of Infineon Technologies)  (Hello Mr. Lee, first of all, thank you very much for accepting this interview.  I know that Infineon Technologies headquarters is based in Germany and Infineon Technologies Korea’s branch is located in Samseong-dong, Gannamgu, Seoul).  Would you please share with us an introduction about Infineon Technologies?) Mr. Lee Seung Soo  :  In the 2020 fiscal year (ending 30 September), Infineon reported revenue of more than €8.5 billion with a workforce of some 46,700 people worldwide. Following the acquisition of the US company Cypress Semiconductor Corporation in April 2020, Infineon is now a global top 10 semiconductor company. We play a key role in shaping a better future – with microelectronics that link the real and the digital world. Our semiconductors enable efficient energy management, smart mobility, as well as secure, seamless communications in an increasingly connected world. Infineon Technologies Korea is located in Samseong-dong, Gangnam and working around 240 employees. Also we set up the sales office in Daegu to provide qualified support for customers in South area. Major customers are Hyundai Motor group, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics and Infineon Korea have ranked No.1 in Automotive semiconductor area.  Reporter   (Thank you for the introduction. Would you please describe what the organizational culture (OD & Culture) and ideal Talent Style of Infineon Technologies Korea is?) Mr. Lee Seung Soo  :   Infineon Korea respects Korean culture based on IFX head quarter’s structure. All employees are responsible for own work and we place a high value on exchanging necessary feedback each other. There’s a communication format called Leadership dialogue that not only the manager give feedback to the staffs, but the staffs also give feedback to their manager.  Infineon Korea is working on a campaign to call nickname instead of Korean title. We will continue this campaign to make more respectful and equal organizational culture.  Reporter   (Would you please outline the compensation & benefits (C&B) and HR (HRM) system of Infineon Technologies Korea?) Mr. Lee Seung Soo: Infineon Korea provides ‘Flexible spending account’ what employees can use this one like credit card anywhere, anytime. And we are constantly trying to offer the necessary program for employee’s wellness.  Infineon Korea operate global HR system stably. Managers have a performance evaluation with each employee frequently and we managing not only evaluation, but also various training program for employee’s development. Reporter   (How would you describe the labor-management culture of Infineon Technologies Korea?) Mr. Lee Seung Soo:  We have the labor-management council meeting quarterly. Council members from workers are collecting feedbacks regarding all of company life and they put it on the table in labor-management council meeting. All council members discuss new feedbacks and notice the conclusion quarterly.  Reporter   (Would you be able to inform us of any job position currently available at Infineon Technologies Korea or a position that is scheduled to be available in the second half of this year?) Mr. Lee Seung Soo:  Infineon Korea recruits experienced employee time to time. Mr. Lee Seung Soo:  Most working mothers should take care of both their family and work. They are used to doing two things same time and they know how to use their time efficiently. To finish the work in time, concentration and sensitivity are required. As such, working mothers have many strengths.  I think it’s important to experience various positions in one field if you have a goal to become a CEO. For example, If you’re working as engineer you can try sales position, if you’re working as sales you can try marketing position. Make your unique career focusing on the position what enable to catch the big flow of company’s moving forward. I look forward to meeting many woman CEOs soon. Reporter -  (The world economy has been stunned since the Pandemic.  Would you please highlight some of the real difficulties that currently surround your company industry as well as the future outlook of the industry?) Mr. Lee Seung Soo:  As many people know already Automotive semiconductor supply issue is very serious now days. Semiconductors account for 18% of the total cost of automotive electronics in 2000 but it’s 40% in 2020. The demand has increased significantly but only few foundry companies produce automotive semiconductor because it’s not profitable. It’s expected to continue overeating of automotive semiconductors for a while due to great interest of autonomous driving, electric vehicles and COVID pandemic. To counteract this problem, Infineon is doing the best to find good solutions for our customers. Reporter -  (Lastly, as a mentor who contributes so much to his community, please share with us any wisdom you may have for young job seekers) Mr. Lee Seung Soo:  We are living in an era of rapid change and COVID pandemic has made it harder to get a job. But the economic is slowly recovering and I believe there are opportunities even though it’s a difficult situation. It’s late if you start preparing when the good opportunity happened. You should decide the direction you want to go and make the qualifications and experience to match the job you want. If you decide a job you want to do, I’d like to recommend that you get information about the company you want to work as much as you can. It would be helpful that find the company’s management direction, changes in the industry and company’s outlook. Many companies want you if If you can clearly show your potential and your goals to contribute within the company.

This corresponds to 3.64% of the current share capital.     Papa John’s founder slices up ad firm’s $6M ‘extort’ attempt       Papa John’s founder John Schnatter has claimed his spectacular ouster from the pizza chain last year was orchestrated by an advertising firm that was trying to extort $6 million from him — and now he claims that he has the tapes to prove it. The embattled fast-food tycoon — who last year left the company’s board amid growing unrest over a leaked recording of a conference call in which he used the N-word — claimed in court papers filed this month that the May 2018 call was a setup by Laundry Service, an ad firm that had been doing business with Papa John’s. Specifically, Schnatter — who has insisted from the start that the hubbub was the result of a plot against him — now claims his legal team has discovered the existence of a recording of Laundry Service executives speaking among themselves after Schnatter hung up from the infamous conference call on May 22, 2018. According to a July 2018 Forbes report, Schnatter and the ad execs on the call were doing a role-playing exercise that included questions about racism. Asked how he would separate himself from racist groups online, Schnatter reportedly said that KFC founder Colonel Sanders never got backlash for using the N-word — comments that Schnatter later owned up to and said he regretted. “There is no mistaking Laundry Service’s ill-intent,” the court filing adds, alleging that the ad execs plotted to “put Mr. Schnatter in front of a hostile interviewer in front of a live audience to make comments that would inevitably be misconstrued and used against him.” The new filing has been redacted, and doesn’t contain any specific, smoking-gun excerpts from the recording. The tape was made by Tim Polder, a former Laundry Service employee who also gave a deposition about it, according to court documents. Laundry Service argues that details about Polder’s deposition should remain sealed, but Schnatter’s lawyers are asking the court to unseal them to reveal “approximately six lines of testimony from the deposition” discussing that call, according to court papers. Laundry Service, which is part of entertainment mogul Casey Wasserman’s media group, denied it leaked the recording. A spokesperson for Wasserman Media Group declined to comment on Friday.
